Lights! Camera! Action! Experience works from the Carter collection throughout the galleries that explore performance. From Wild West theatrical routines and a scene of musicians communing in a barn to the sophisticated movements of a modern dancer and unfamiliar creatures enacting rituals on otherworldly stages. Each artwork becomes a stage where performance transcends time, offering glimpses into human expression and emotion.
Artists Nell Dorr, Laura Gilpin, Eadweard Muybridge, Valton Tyler, and more capture performance from unique perspectives and encourage viewers to take a second look.
Re/Framed gives visitors to the Carter a new way to look at the Carter’s collection. Several times a year, artwork will be rotated allowing guests to see the works through a different lens. Works that are part of Re/Framed are located throughout the Museum’s collection galleries and can be identified by the window icon on their labels.
