This lecture inaugurates the exhibition Art and War in the Renaissance: The Battle of Pavia Tapestries. Thomas Campbell is a world expert on tapestry and author of the principal essay in the exhibition’s richly illustrated catalogue. He will introduce the audience to the preeminence of tapestry as an artistic medium in the Renaissance and to this sumptuous cycle of Flemish tapestries depicting an epic battle in life-size action.
Priority admission for Kimbell members who present a current membership card begins at 9:30 am; general admission to the auditorium opens at 10 am.
