Paper Forum | Richard Hunt: Sculpting Freedom

November 13 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Richard Hunt’s sculptures and works on paper are the result of his lived experience, including his years in San Antonio, where he was part of the South’s first peaceful lunch-counter desegregation. Learn how Hunt, through his expressions of growth, movement, and emancipation, chronicled Black American aspirations and epitomized a universal desire for freedom. The intentional and deliberate sculptural treatment of political expression would be the defining characteristic of Hunt’s artistic practice.

Paper Forum members are invited to join Carter curator Shirley Reece-Hughes and biographer Jon Ott for an in-depth conversation on Hunt’s legacy. Ott is Richard Hunt’s official biographer and steward of his legacy. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Richard Hunt Legacy Foundation and Chair Emeritus of the International Sculpture Center.

Free for Paper Forum members! RSVP by email or call 817.989.5060 by November 5.
